Technology-Enhanced Learning in Science center (TELS)
One of 16 national centers for learning and teaching established by the National Science Foundation to improve instruction in science, mathematics and engineering.
Web-based Integrated Science Environment (WISE)
A National Science Foundation funded web-based learning environment and curriculum library to capitalize on the synergies between Internet connectivity and Integrated Science instruction.
University of California Web-based Instruction for Science and Engineering (UC WISE)
This project has designed a system for integrating technology into the instruction of entry level science and engineering courses. The goal of this effort is to research the most effective ways of integrating computer technology into our courses, replacing the traditional lecture with a more dynamic role for the instructor as tutor or learning partner.
Past Projects
ROLE - Helping Districts Respond to New Science Assessments - A Partnership Model for Integrating Technology, Professional Development and Curriculum.
Computer as Learning Partner (CLP) - An educational research project that developed a middle school physical science curriculum with an extensive use of computers.
Synergy Communities: Aggregating Learning about Education (SCALE) - The Synergy Communities project investigated methods to make the field of science education more cumulative and cohesive. This project brought together a multi-institutional community of reseachers, developers, and educators to synthesize what we know about supporting student learning in a common subject domain: water quality.
Knowledge Integrative Environment (KIE) - An educational research project that engaged students in an exploration of evidence over the internet. (Precursor to WISE.)
